The Legacy of Brett Favre – Does it End Tonight?

brett favre vikings

Brett Favre, who is battling multiple injuries from previous matches (Green Bay, New England, Buffalo), may miss his 1st game in over 20 years and put an end to his all-time Iron Man record of 297 consecutive starts, assuming he is deemed unfit to play against the giants on December 13, 2010. Did he already play in the final game of his pro career last week against Buffalo? And what of the Jen Sterger controversy which still looms overhead? Will the league ever take any disciplinary action against him? And will that taint his decorated legacy, his claim to fame as one of the most enthusiastic quarterbacks to ever play the game? I suppose only time will  tell… but there is no doubt that he definitely was one of the funnest players to watch. Ever. Thanks for the great memories, Brett.

Here’s a quick recap of  some of Brett Favre’s more notable, one-of-a-kind achievements throughout his 20 year pro football career:

  • Super Bowl championship
  • 3 MVP awards
  • 11 Pro Bowl appearances
  • 507 passing TDs (1st)
  • 71,775 passing yards (1st)
  • 334 interceptions (1st)
  • Sacked 524 times (1st)
  • Regular season wins: 185 (1st)
  • Playoff wins: 13 (5th)
  • Consecutive starts: 297 (321 w/ playoffs)

Not Bad for a years worth of playing your favorite pastime sport in front of millions of viewers. I wouldn’t mind trading salaries with any of these athletes for a couple of years. Hell, I’d be down to do it for even a couple of weeks!

Owens Signs with Buffalo

bills

Only two days later, T.O. decided to sign with the Buffalo Bills and agreed to a 1 year deal for $6.5 million dollars. Owens said he was happy to leave ‘America’s team’ and play for ‘North-America’s team’.

Personally, I think this was a smart move for Buffalo, especially since it’s only a one-year deal, so in case anything goes wrong, it would be short-lived. I’m excited for the bills (especially since they are my favorite football team) because they seemed to be lacking an offensive weapon last season. Hopefully, he and Lee Evans will get along and help push the Bills back into the playoffs.
