Research has shown that although plastic is a great material when it comes to packaging bottled water, nearly every other consumable good that is packaged in plastic has an expiration date. However, when it comes to water, it just doesn’t expire. Since there is no expiration date, bottled water begins to absorb dangerous chemicals from this plastic that have been proven to cause health problems.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that bottle water is stored in non-biodegradable plastic. The vast majority of this plastic is not recycled. Sit back and imagine all of the energy used to produce a bottle of water when you could be getting tap water from your sink. First, the machines used to “harvest” and package the water. Then there are trucks that distribute the water, and at the end, there is refrigeration that uses even MORE energy. It’s just bad business.
