If you think monsoon rains and flash floods are destructive, it is nothing compared to the storms that move five times faster than the speed of sound carrying particles of glass instead of rain! These forceful storms can be found on Planet HD 189733b located 63 light years from Earth. This planet is characterized as a ‘hot Jupiter’. The wind speeds there are awesome! The speed of sound is 340.29 meters per second; this means that the winds on this planet are zooming 5 times faster than this while carrying silicate particles! Earth’s storms have no comparison to this!
14Olivine Glittery Rain
HOPS-68 is a young proto-star that is similar to a Sun. It is located approximately 1,350 light years away from our planet! It is a star that is still being formed because according to scientists, there is a cloud of dust surrounding it. Within that cloud of dust are amazing pieces of olivine! Olivine is a green crystal that is found on Earth in Arizona also. Olivine is used here in jewelry making. Olivine is formed at the temperature of lava – extremely HOT! But, the cloud around HOPS-68 is very cold at -280 degrees Fahrenheit. According to astronomers, the gems were formed near the star before being expelled by blasts of gas. A scientist describes the olivine as falling ‘like glitter’.
